MEET THE CFA AMBASSADOR TEAM

The CFA Ambassadors are a group of anglers that are loyal supporters of Colorado Fly Angler. We have chosen them to assist us with field testing flies, and to provide feedback to us before we release those flies to the website for sale to the public.

Our CFA ambassadors share & represent the same values as Colorado Fly Angler, the protection & conservation of our natural resources. They are avid anglers that fish in locations easily accessible to all of us, giving us a true sense of how our bugs are performing, and allowing us to design the best flies possible for the same places as our customers may be fishing.

The Ambassador team will help provide us with our favorite thing here at Colorado Fly Angler, pictures of fish with our flies in their mouth, which we like to use in letting you know what the hot CFA flies currently are.

We take pride in our ambassador team, as well as our commitment to building a community of like minded anglers that represent the values of our brand, while aiding us in designing better flies for our customers, Thank you Ambassadors for all you contribute.

KIBUM LEE

My Name is Kibum Lee, but I generally just go by Lee. I've been a Colorado native since 1996 and I got into fly fishing through friends who generously invited me out. Since that day you can say I got hooked. I dream about it, I'm always thinking about it, and I don't think I can live without it now, haha.

Fly fishing has been my escape from the ever stressful day to day we all face today. If you see me out on the water, come and say hi. I might give you a fly from CFA that I have recently fallen in love with or I might bite you; its a 50/50. Good luck!

My fishing journey started when I was just a wee lad. I have vivid memories of my dad/uncles/grandpa catching tons of trout whether it was a couple hours on a sunday up Georgetown or weekend family stay up Grand lake. They taught me how to conventional fish and instilled the love and passion I have for fishing at a very early age.

Fast forwarding through life… My buddies and I took it upon ourselves one day to learn how to fly fish as conventional fishing wasn't as intriguing to us anymore. At first I was pretty resistant to learning all the intricacies of fly fishing but as it turned out I would come to love the struggle and it just made me want more and more.

Nowadays I tie my own flies, make my own leaders and dedicate at least one or two days a week to get out on the water. Living 15 minutes from downtown Denver means I have a lot of area to cover here in Colorado.

Most commonly you’ll find CFA ambassador Tyler and I working all sectors of the South Platte. That being said, we also love fishing tailwaters & freestones (such as the Arkansas, Blue, Eagle, Clear Creek, Big Thompson, etc..) & my personal favorite, stillwaters.

Being able to fish all the diverse watersheds we have in Colorado has really bumped my game up and prevents an angler like myself from becoming bored with the same surroundings, not to mention the fish here love CFA flies! Even though I tie my own, I still make a point to always have a CFA fly on my rig.

I'm 33 years young and I am born and raised here in CO (Native). I currently live near Downtown Denver with my beautiful wife and our two dogs (Kona & Kookie).

My 3 favorite would be a CFA Crackhead Midge, CFA Titan Midge, and a CFA Jolly Rancher, all of which are deadly and have caught me some great fish!

I am of my knowledge a 3-generation angler, my grandfather used to fish in many places and one of them was Westport Washington for king Salmon.

I love to saltwater fish for any type of salmon on a boat, jetty, shore, or peer. I was born and raised in Colorado. I started fishing at Aurora reservoir when I was 4 years old and I still fish there occasionally. I started to fly fish and have gotten into Tenkara for the fun dry fly hits!

Deckers and Cheesman are my home waters and I occasionally fish Clear Creek and Boulder Creek.

It's nice to meet new anglers and help out and give tips to grow the hobby. I do not enjoy combat fishing and try to get away from the packed crowded times and places.

TYLER STEPHENS

Hello, my name is Tyler Stephens. Fly fishing began for me back in 2022. I’m a convert from conventional fishing. A friend of mine was a fly fisherman and talked it up. So, I bought some gear and fell in love. I guess I was bored with sitting on the bank of the river. I wanted to be in the river, study the river, and follow the fish from within the river.

I moved to Colorado when I was in middle school. My mother’s family lives here and we moved back, and right away I knew the mountains were the place for me. Finding a mountain stream and being in that stream is all I need.

I do one staycation a year exploring the great fishing areas of this state. I’ve been to Durango, Pagosa Springs, Montrose, Steamboat Springs, Frying Pan River, Blue River, Dream Stream, Arkansas River, Poudre River, Cheesman Canyon, and Eleven Mile Canyon to name a few. All of these places require a little more skill. I wish I could get to them more often.
